Germantown is one of Philadelphia’s most historic neighborhoods, located in the northwestern section of the city along Germantown Avenue. The neighborhood contains an unusually broad mix of architecture, including historic stone homes, rowhouses, twins, detached properties, and buildings dating to several periods of Philadelphia’s development.

Historic Germantown includes landmarks connected to colonial America and the nation’s early history, including Cliveden and the Johnson House Historic Site. Germantown Avenue remains a major neighborhood corridor, while SEPTA Regional Rail and bus routes provide connections throughout Northwest Philadelphia and toward Center City. Wissahickon Valley Park and Fairmount Park are also nearby.
