Kingsessing is a Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood located west of the Schuylkill River and south of University City. The area includes traditional rowhomes, residential streets, commercial corridors, institutional properties, and green spaces that reflect its long history as one of Philadelphia’s older settled areas.

One of the neighborhood’s major landmarks is Bartram’s Garden, the historic home and botanical garden of John Bartram situated along the Schuylkill River. SEPTA trolley routes provide connections toward University City and Center City, while Woodland Avenue serves as an important local corridor. The expanding Schuylkill River Trail also connects the area with riverfront recreation.
